Warren Forgey of Schneck Medical Center Awarded Distinguished Service Award
October 28, 2019
Warren Forgey, President and CEO, Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, IN received the Distinguished Service Award from the Indiana Hospital Association (IHA) at its 2019 annual meeting.
The IHA Distinguished Service Award recognizes outstanding personal achievement in support of the humanitarian and management goals of Indiana health care institutions.  Forgey was recognized for his many accomplishments in enhancing hospital services in Seymour, being a community leader in health care, and advancing the profession of hospital administration.
“Schneck Medical Center has consistently been a top performing hospital in Indiana,” said IHA President Brian Tabor, adding that Schneck received the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality award, the nation’s top-quality honor, in 2011. “As president and CEO, Warren has demonstrated strong leadership that has produced outstanding results.  He is the epitome of a servant leader and a strong advocate for Hoosier patients,” Tabor added.
Under Forgey’s leadership, Schneck developed a physician recruitment strategy to address concerns about access to care highlighted in a Community Health Needs Assessment.  Schneck identified the need for 35 physicians in specialty and primary care areas.  Within a three-year period, 27 physicians have been recruited to the community, a result unprecedented for a small rural hospital.  Forgey also underscored the hospital’s commitment to quality and safety by leading safety huddles every morning, allocating additional resources to the Lean Six Sigma Department, and routinely monitoring patient safety and quality by setting a clear vision of goals.
Forgey has served as the CEO and President of Schneck Medical Center for four years and has been with the hospital since 1992, serving as in multiple leadership positions including Chief Financial Officer.  Forgey received a Master of Science in Health Systems Administration in 2002 from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1989 from Indiana Institute of Technology.
