Allergies
Allergies are a response that your body has to a foreign substance that has impacted your immune system. These foreign substances could be things like pollen or dander. For some, these interactions are completely harmless. For others, it can cause reactions like hives, swelling, rashes, or other irritations.
Reactions can range from mild to severe. Depending on the type of allergy, there are a variety of methods for the management of allergic reactions. From avoidance to medications, the method in which your provider chooses will depend on the severity and type of allergy.
Understanding if you have allergies is important for a variety of reasons. If you believe you have allergies or have reactions that you have difficulty explaining by other conditions, seek your primary care doctor. If needed, they can refer you to an allergy specialist to understand your body’s reactions to certain substances and get an action plan in place.
