Schneck Surgical Associates Welcomes Aaron Spesard, MD
Where Did You Grow Up?
I grew up in the small town of Flora, Indiana, and attended Carroll High School. In my time there, I grew to appreciate rural Indiana and always knew I wanted to end up close to family.
Please Tell Us about Your Family.
I met my wife of nearly five years during my time at Purdue and we reconnected during my time in medical school. We just welcomed our son last December.
What Hobbies Do You Enjoy?
Since a young age, I have been passionate about sports and played most every sport over the years. I am particularly a fan of basketball, tennis, golf, and football. I also love doing custom carpentry, particularly restoration of old furniture, as well as gardening.
When Did You Know You Wanted to Be a Physician?
I have been telling everyone since junior high school that I was going to be a surgeon. With my experience with repeated injuries, along with my passion for restoration, I knew I wanted to one day help restore the health of my patients.
"Schneck stood out as a unique hospital that provided excellent care in a rural setting. From my first interaction with the staff, I appreciated the family feeling my wife and I were greeted with."
What Do You Like Most about Practicing Medicine?
The practice of medicine and particularly surgery is unique and special as we get to help people through some of the toughest moments in their lives and help bring understanding and clarity to the situation. One of my favorite aspects of my job is helping explain the complexity of a patient's condition to the patient and family to bring comfort and peace.
What Attracted You to Work at Schneck Medical Center?
I knew I wanted to move back to Indiana and looking around the state, Schneck stood out as a unique hospital that provided excellent care in a rural setting. From my first interaction with the staff, I appreciated the family feeling my wife and I were greeted with.
