Schneck Medical Center is proud to announce a leadership transition on its Board of Trustees, effective January 27, 2025. Rick L. Smith will transition to the role of Past-Chairman, while Jack L. McCory will assume the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors. This change reflects Schneck’s unwavering dedication to fostering strong leadership that drives innovation and excellence in healthcare.
Rick L. Smith has dedicated over 20 years to advancing Schneck’s mission, serving in key leadership roles, including Vice-Chairman and Chairman. During his tenure, Schneck accomplished several significant milestones that strengthened its reputation as a regional healthcare leader. These achievements include expanding services to Washington County with the opening of Schneck Family Care, constructing the Cancer Center to introduce radiation oncology services to Jackson County, and developing the Outpatient Care Center, which offers enhanced diagnostic imaging, emergency services, and state-of-the-art outpatient rehabilitation.
As Past-Chairman, Smith will continue to provide invaluable guidance, leveraging his deep expertise and comprehensive institutional knowledge to support Schneck’s ongoing success.
“Rick’s visionary leadership has been instrumental in driving Schneck’s growth and cultivating a culture of innovation and collaboration,” said Eric D. Fish, MD, MBA, FACOG, President/Chief Executive Officer of Schneck Medical Center. “His contributions have laid a strong foundation for our future, and we are deeply grateful for his service.”
Jack L. McCory brings a wealth of experience and strategic insight to his new role as Chairman. Since joining the Schneck Board in 2009, he has held positions including Trustee, Vice-President, and Vice-Chairman. Jack’s forward-thinking approach has been a cornerstone of key initiatives that continue to advance Schneck’s mission of delivering exceptional healthcare.
Together, Smith and McCory oversaw the completion of the Schneck Professional Building, which included an 80,000-square-foot medical office expansion and a five-story parking garage to support growing physician demand. Their leadership also played a pivotal role in Schneck receiving the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, making it the first organization in Indiana to earn this highest presidential honor for quality and performance excellence.
“Jack’s proven leadership and deep commitment to Schneck’s vision make him the ideal choice to lead the Board of Trustees,” said Fish. “We are confident his stewardship will guide us toward new heights as we uphold our commitment to patient-centered excellence.”
Schneck Medical Center extends heartfelt gratitude to Rick L. Smith and Jack L. McCory for their dedication and service to the organization and the communities it serves.
